Yankee Boy Basin is a moderately difficult off-road trail off of the Camp Bird Trailhead. It has great variety for a 1/2 day rental, iincluding vast mountains, multiple water crossings, beautiful wildflower meadows, Twin Falls, and Wright Lake. After off-roading this trail, you will definitely understand why Ouray is called the Switzerland of America! On the way to this trail, you pass both large mining districts – Camp Bird Mine and the Revenue Mine. If you would like to book a full day adventure, you could even hike up to Ouray’s 14er known as Mount Sneffels!

Imogene Pass is rated as a more difficult off-road trail off of the Camp Bird Trailhead. This trail is great for a full day rental, attracting adventurers and thrill-seekers from around the world! Imogene takes you 18 miles over the mountains into the town of Telluride! It is our favorite trail for passing through water crossings, admiring panoramic views, and viewing wildflowers. On this trail, we also enjoy stopping to see the multiple levels of the historic Camp Bird Mine. Lastly, ascending to the beautiful summit at a whopping 13,114 feet will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and a deep appreciation for the majesty of the San Juan Mountains!

Governor Basin is a moderately difficult off-road trail off of the Camp Bird Trailhead and is great for a 1/2 day rental. This hidden gem offers a glimpse into the area’s mining history, with remnants of old mines and structures dotting the landscape, adding a touch of intrigue and nostalgia to your off-road adventure. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the surrounding wilderness, where untouched beauty unfolds in every direction. Governor Basin surrounds you with the breathtaking views of Mount Emma, San Sophia Ridge, Stony Mountain and more!

Corkscrew, Hurricane, and California Pass are a great trio route to off-road. It is a moderately difficult trail that is off of the Ironton Trailhead. While, this trail is only offered as a full day rental and has a $50 trailhead fee, it is world renowned and absolutely breathtaking. On this trail, you will pass multiple lakes, water crossings, and old historic mills. You will also drive through 3 summit stops on each of the passes and end up at Animas Forks, a ghost town with tons of history to learn and explore. The views of the Red Mountains and the awesome stops make this trail absolutely amazing, memorable, and a “can’t miss” destination!
